Another action-packed week at the Pole. IceCube was relatively quiet, but some amazing sun dogs garnered folks’ attention. The station celebrated the 107th anniversary of Roald Amundsen’s arrival at the South Pole, with the station manager dressed up as Amundsen for a photo shoot at the geographic South Pole. A couple of competitions were held indoors. The firefighters faced off to see who was best at balancing a ping pong ball while running through the station. And the station held its first annual head weighing contest. That sounds exciting! Looks like they rigged up quite the apparatus for that measurement. Winterovers Kathrin and Benjamin participated, but did not win the title of heaviest head on station, which was measured at over 11 pounds!
