Week 31 at the Pole

No, not yet—that’s the moon, not the sun. But so bright, one would be forgiven for mistaking it for the sun. Not only is this full moon bright, but it’s sporting a nice clear halo, too, providing an excellent backdrop for a shot of the IceCube Lab. The week’s highlights included an exam for the ham radio class that winterover James has been running (the participants all passed and can be seen proudly holding up their call signs in the photo below), an all-hands meeting for station personnel, a travel talk, and a science get-together. Oh, and auroras. Fantastic auroras.
