We’ve discussed sastrugi before, but this one deserves special attention for its shape. It sure does look like a frozen finger, doesn’t it? And it’s pointing the way to IceCube. Inside the station, holiday decorations are slowly beginning to emerge as December progresses. Outside (below), we see a snow vehicle ready for boarding and heading out to the IceCube Lab, then a Basler plane bringing a group of Japanese visitors to the station for a tour. With round-the-clock daylight and some clear weather with crisp, blue skies—the week’s color scheme is more red, white, and blue than typical holiday-inspired colors.
