Yes, the sun has officically risen at the Pole. But it happened at the very end of the week, so we may have to wait a bit for an actual sunrise photo (or go back one or two weeks for something close). Last week was busy with several sunrise-related activities. IceCube’s winterovers were out cleaning off and covering up the IceAct field telescopes. It was also time to put out new flags at the ceremonial Pole, replacing the old, weather-beaten ones, which get raffled off to the winterovers. IceCube winterover Joe was one of the lucky winners and took home the Norwegian flag. With the sunrise came the annual sunrise dinner, replete with quite an array of goodies.
