As the sun sinks low behind the IceCube Lab, the building’s shadow grows long—it’s almost reaching the South Pole Telescope, as shown below. Last week, the flags were moving in the wind at the ceremonial Pole while some winterovers were moving their bodies in the gym (yoga class). The winterovers also had continued rescue team training, with practice extracting someone from a confined space, and a well-attended Karaoke event on the weekend. There was also time last week for IceCube’s winterovers to Skype with students in Germany, offering the class a presentation about life and work at the South Pole.
